On November 14, 2007 Fox Television (Channel 32 in Chicago) broadcast an outrageously offensive historical lie veiled as comedic banter, which only makes it all the more insidious (\u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6.it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in your Polish blood, like kielbasa and collaborating with the Nazis\u00e2\u20ac\u009d).<\/p>\n

Steven Levitan and his team of writers and producers either possess the historical knowledge of the average Jay Leno \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Jay-walker\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, or had made a deliberate, malicious attempt to smear Americans of Polish descent and the Polish Nation as a whole.<\/p>\n

Poland suffered unimaginable losses at the hands of Nazi Germany and no other nation fought the Nazis as long and as valiantly as did the Poles while many countries continued to do business with Hitler and chose not to honor treaties to come to Poland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s aid.<\/p>\n

Poland lost millions of her citizens in the murderous war and occupation. Her capital, Warsaw, was ruthlessly shelled, burned and bombed by the Germans until only rubble remained of historic homes, government buildings, hospitals and churches.<\/p>\n

Poland was the only country in occupied Europe where the death penalty was imposed for harboring Jews. Often entire Polish families, including babies, were murdered by barbaric Germans when a Jew was discovered hiding in their home. And yet, contrary to anti-Polish propaganda spewed by the likes of J.T. Gross, Alan Dershovitz and their ilk (and now Fox TV?), more Poles than people of any other nation came to the aid of Jews seeking shelter. Just count the number of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Polish\u00e2\u20ac\u009d trees in the Righteous Among Nations Garden in the Yad Vashem.<\/p>\n

The Fox Television Network, as well as the producers and writers of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Back to You\u00e2\u20ac\u009d need to apologize not only to the millions of Polish Americans, but to all viewers who were subjected to this revisionism of world history – canned laughter is not a mitigating factor.<\/p>\n

We all know that, unfortunately, many children and young people \u00e2\u20ac\u0153learn\u00e2\u20ac\u009d history not by reading books but by watching television shows and inferior quality movies \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a handy tool for revisionists, indeed.<\/p>\n

Until this assault on decency and historical truth is rectified I urge all readers, regardless of nationality, race or religion to call, email, fax or write the Fox Television Network and demand an apology to your fellow citizens and Poles throughout the world.<\/p>\n

I am of Polish descent, my father fought in WWII for the Polish Cavalry, the
\nFree French & the US Army. Last night I was switching channels before a
\nbasketball game and came upon a Fox network show called “Back to You” (Wednesday November 14, 2007, 7 pm CT). I caught the first 3 minutes which was a scene with Kelsey Grammer & another male actor concerning bowling. The other actor tried to shame Mr. Grammer into bowling by making a reference to the “fact” that bowling was as much a part of Polish genetics ( the actual line was something like ,.as much in your blood as..’) as “…collaborating with the Nazis..”. I find this incredibly offensive and sincerely hope that you take appropriate steps to register vigorously how disgusting, disrespectful and outrageous this defamation is to the Polish people and the utter disregard for the heroism shown by Poles who lost their lives in the millions standing up to the Nazis as well as those who fought against them on many different grounds and many different levels and survived.
\nThis insult is made more egregious by the fact that earlier this week marked the ‘anniversary’ of the 14,000 murdered Polish army men shot, killed & buried in a Polish forest.<\/p>\n

\nI am writing to express my strongest possible objection against a defaming phrase that appeared recently on the Fox Network show “Back to you.” The statement, made by one of the characters, was directed at people of Polish descent: “…Polish blood, like kielbasa, like collaborating with the Nazis…”. The utterance was followed by a recorded laugh track presumably from a studio audience (http:\/\/streaming.myfoxchicago.com\/backtoyou\/index.html# , 1.45 – 1.55 min. from beginning). Needless to say, this phrase is incredibly offensive and outrageous. This insulting sentence shows either a total lack of basic historical and political knowledge or a purposeful defamation of one of the most heroic nations that lost millions of people fighting against Germany while others were waiting and watching. As one of the 10 million of Polish Americans, I request full apology from the President of the Fox Network, its management and writers with information about personal decisions regarding the people responsible for these derogatory and racist statements. We need to teach our children true history and values – and people who know nothing about these major historical events should not be in the position to disseminate false and accusatory information.
\nIt is my strong opinion that it is the Fox Network’s responsibility to take action in this case, or deal with a boycott of the channel and its sponsors as well as legal ramifications of these libelous statements of the Network. As a company that claims to have a more fair and credible news coverage compared to others, it is outrageous that this remark was allowed to appear on a national show.<\/p>\n

I notice on many of their programs pattern of humiliation of other nations or minorties. My son already was shock once when he was told by somebody in his school that Holocaust didn’t happened. In no way was this dialogue meant to insinuate any connection between the Polish people and the Nazi movement. The line was delivered by a character known for being ignorant, clueless, and for saying outlandish things. Allowing the line to remain in the show, however, demonstrated poor judgment and we apologize to anyone who was offended. We have removed the line from the episode for all distribution platforms and all future airings.”

jak tak czytam te wszystkie komentarze to….. LUDZIE wyluzujcie troche, wg mnie cala ta reakcja Poloni Amerykanskiej jest grubo przesadzona. Po za tym jest to jedno zdanie wyciagniete z kontekstu, nie wiemy (przynajmniej ja nie wiem, nie znam tego serialu) kim jest owy serialowy bohater tzn jaka role w tym serialu odgrywa, moze byc przeciez tak, ze jedna z cech naszego serialowego bohatera jest to, ze jest… hmm, powiedzmy “inteligentny inaczej” \ud83d\ude42 Przyznajcie, ze jezeli ktos w waszej obecnosci wypowiedzialby podobne zdanie a w powszechnej opini wiadomo by bylo ze jest to osoba he he, powiedzmy “niedouczona”, to nazwalibyscie go rasista albo twierdzili ze obraza Polakow?
\nI nawet jezeli nie mam racji odnosnie roli owego bohatera w tym serialu to i tak uwazam, ze opisana reakcja poloni jest naprawde mocno przesadzona. Przyznam, ze w takich momentach troszeczke mi wstyd za to, ze jestem Polakiem.<\/p>\n

I nie zrozumcie mnie zle: uwazam ze nalezy walczyc z falszem i zaklamaniem ( wg mnie wynikajacych najczesciej po prostu z niewiedzy a nie zlej woli) jak to mialo miejsce np calkiem niedawno z “polskimi obozami zag\u00c5\u201aady” ale to? ty glupku na luzie, mi tez jest wstyd ze jestes Polakiem, czy ty myslisz ze to pierwszy raz jest takie zmienianie historii przez zydow? My zawsze mamy tolerowac kogos niby glupote, ktora naprawde jest robiona z pewnym celu, a glupcy jak ty sie tylko potrafia z tego smiac, bo nie maja zadnego rozumu czy wrodzonego patriotyzmu. My mamy wmawiane ze jestesmy anti-semici, koleboranci i sie mamy z tego cieszyc. Dlaczego w tym programie nie uzyja nic przeciw zydom lub innym narodowoscia, jak na przyklad Niemcom? Bo zaraz byl by krzyk ze to anti-semitism, anti-xxxxx, jakos oni nie sa tak wyluzowani jak ty palancie bys chcial zeby Polacy byli. Odrazu podnosza krzyk o anti-semitism i biora do sadu. Wystarczy oczerniania Polakow i Polski po 60 latach. Najpierw poczytaj troche historii, zmyj mleko z pyska i nie zabieraj glosu jak dorosli dyskutuja. Jestes za glupi zeby zrozumiec o czym jest mowa. Poogladaj sobie jakiejs komedii i ci ten dzien jakos przeleci na ignorancji….aby do nastepnej komedii. Oh, nie zapomnij sie wyluzowac po tym co napisalem…..<\/p>\n
